A U.S. tourist fell victim to a sophisticated robbery in London after an Uber driver drugged him and stole $123,000 worth of cryptocurrency. Jacob Irwin-Cline, 30, was on a layover when he hailed what appeared to be his booked Uber ride in Soho. The driver, identifying himself as "Mohammed," matched the profile in the app but operated an unregistered vehicle.
After offering a laced cigarette, the driver incapacitated Cline and accessed his crypto holdings. The incident highlights the risks of carrying large digital asset sums in unfamiliar environments. No specific cryptocurrencies were named in the report.
